Born and raised in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, Louise was lucky enough to have a childhood filled with many adventures into the countryside and coastal areas where her parents introduced her to the amazing world of nature. So it’s no surprise that her passion is for nature, and when she wasn’t out exploring the world she was creating drawings and paintings from her discoveries.
Louise’s art career began in 1991 after leaving art college at the age of 20. She had a small craft stall in her local shopping centre where she sold her artwork. She worked at her stall often gaining an audience whilst painting pets and wildlife. After her daughter was born in 2001 her art career took a backseat so she could be a full-time mum and raise her in the same way she had been.
In more recent years she has rebuilt her art business, mainly working from her home studio now. She has travelled around the country to various art and craft events and sold her work online but her career has again changed and she is now working with one of the finest UK art publishers who are representing her alcohol ink artwork and distributing it to some of the most prestigious UK art galleries.
Although she works in various art mediums, it is her recent discovery of alcohol ink that has captured both her imagination and that of her collectors and clients. Alcohol ink is a highly-pigmented acid-free fluid art medium that basically has a mind of its own. Louise fell in love with it as soon as she started to use it. She says, “There is something so magical and captivating about the way it works”. Its free flowing nature and vibrant colours are a perfect combination, allowing Louise to create the most spectacular textural and eye catching pieces of artwork that will brighten up any house or office.
