Kimberley Harris

Inspired by the natural landscape, particularly wildflower meadows, Kimberley Harris creates atmospheric oil paintings inspired by her Suffolk surroundings.

Visiting a JMW Turner exhibition as a child had a strong influence on the artist and consequently inspired her exploration of strong contrasts of light and shadow. Kimberley observes and captures the effects of light on the landscape initially with her camera and then works from these photographs in her studio.

Capturing the interplay of light as the sun sets or the climatic changes of the skies, Kim applies lively textured palette-knife work to the floral foreground of her oil paintings, creating a perfect illusion of 3 dimension which draws the viewer further into each scene.
