Jose Manuel Reyes is a highly regarded Spanish artist in the hyper-realist genre of painting. As an art student he also worked in vineyards to fund his studies which led to his interest in wine as a subject matter and later earned him prestigious commissions from the wine industry across France and Spain.
Choosing to paint a range of subject matter, the artist’s underwater paintings are particularly mesmerising. Choosing to create the main focal point of the composition, such as the fish, in a vibrant, hyper-realistic style, he juxtaposes this with an abstracted but soft and fluid watery background which is beautifully hypnotic and captures that sense of light reflecting through the water.
We are excited to be introducing these captivating underwater paintings to the gallery here in Knutsford.
